CFW – 2023
Introduction
Right Back Where We Started From
CFW, the weekly college football blog/newsletter, is back for its 29th year. Conceived in mid-1990s, CFW has continued to inform and entertain, sometimes irritate, college football fans every year since 1995.
“Ooh, and it’s
alright and it’s coming on
Not only has CFW continued to exist, but also, during the years, it has continued to grow:
- From a weekly report and commentary on seven teams – Duke, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Purdue, Texas and West Virginia (“Ye Olde Stomping Grounds”) – to a weekly report and commentary on all of college football.
On Monday, August 14, come aboard and read the first of more than 40 postings. You’ll be glad you did. Every week, CFW will keep you informed, up-to-date and entertained for the next five months – the preseason, the season, the conference championship games, the bowl games, the national championship game and the postseason recap – 23 weeks of college football. And as always, a special posting – CFW’s annual Holiday Bonus: What Year Was It?
If you are a fan of college football, you’ll love CFW. Enjoy all the fun and excitement of each week, as Touchdown Tom, his wife Swamp Mama and their friends Rockledge Gator and Bootsie frolic through the season. CFW is everything college football and more – everything college football and then some.
If you don’t receive CFW by email, you can always read it online at the link https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com. The online link to CFW is also available on LinkedIn, my Facebook page and on The Big Red Meat Wagon Facebook page. You can also join the “College Football Week” group on Facebook to read CFW.
“A connection like
ours
College football 2023 is just around the corner. From the offseason, the new head coaches, the coaches on the hot seat and conference realignments to the season, the bowl games and the title game, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy your cold pizza, your chili dogs, your favorite brew and College Football Week.
College Football Week will be on your laptop, your iPad and/or your cell phone bright and early next Monday morning – August 14. And every morning next week. That’s right. This year, for the first time, CFW will be posted every day during its first week. The first edition – all the offseason news, new head coaches, hot seat coaches, top quarterbacks, top running backs, etc. – has always been a bit long. So this year, I’m going to spread it out over five days – Monday through Friday.
Monday, August 14:
CFW – The News of the Offseason
And this year, for the first time, CFW will take on a new seasonal format. Beginning with Week One – August 28 – the CFW blog, as you have known it, will be posted on Monday mornings, with the exception of “Touchdown Tom’s Predictions for This Week’s 10 Biggest and Most Intriguing Games….and then some,” “Ye Olde Stomping Grounds” and “Elsewhere Around Florida.” Those three sections and more will be posted on Thursday mornings, beginning August 31. The twice-a-week format (Monday and Thursday) will be in place through Conference Championship Weekend – Week 15. Then with the start of the bowl games in December, CFW will return to its once a week format for the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, I’ll see you Monday and every day next week. It’s going to be fun. Stay tuned!
It’s good to be back!
Yes, “right back where we started from.”
Touchdown Tom
Apologies to Maxine Nightingale, whose 1976 hit, “Right Back Where We Started From,” reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The song had a 20-week run on the chart in the winter and spring of 1976.
