College Football Week – 2022 Season Introduction
Reunited and it
feels so good
“Reunited, cause we understood”
Greetings from Des Moines, Iowa, college football fans. Des Moines, Iowa? I’ll explain later. But it’s that time again. Time to stay on top of your football with College Football Week. That’s right. Starting next Monday (August 15), College Football Week begins the first of its 23-week run from preseason to the end of postseason.
Better known as CFW, the weekly college football blog/newsletter is back for its 28th season. Yes, CFW began in 1995 and has continued to inform and entertain college football fans every year since.
CFW has also continued to grow:
-
From
a weekly commentary on seven teams – Duke, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Purdue,
Texas and West Virginia (Ye Olde Stomping Grounds) – to commentary on all of
college football
-
From
a weekly two-page report to a multi-page report
On Monday, August 15, jump aboard and read the first
of 23 weekly postings. You’ll be glad you did. CFW will keep you up-to-date and
entertained for the next five months, all the way through to January 16 – the
preseason, the season, the bowl games and the championship game. Plus there is
the 24th posting – CFW’s annual holiday bonus: What Year Was It?
“There’s one perfect fit
And this one is it”
If you like college football, you’ll love CFW. Enjoy
all the fun and excitement each week, as Touchdown Tom, his wife Swamp
Mama and their friends Rockledge Gator and Bootsie romp
through the college football season. The four of us will be attending the
LSU-Florida game in October. CFW is everything college football and more –
everything college football and then some.
If you don’t receive CFW by email, you can always read
it online every week at the link https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com.
The link to CFW is also available on LinkedIn, on my Facebook page and on The
Big Red Meet Wagon Facebook page.
College football is just around the corner. From NIL, the transfer portal, conference realignment, the season, the bowl games to the championship game, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy your cold pizza, your chili dogs, your favorite brew and your College Football Week.
Next week’s blog is a long one. After all, it has been a long offseason. A lot went down. Plus we have 29 new coaches to talk about. And about 29 coaches who are on the hot seat. This and much more, including the best quotes of the offseason and a review of the top quarterbacks for 2022. Some transferred, some stayed in place and some are new.
College Football Week will be on your laptop, your iPad and/or your cell phone bright and early next Monday morning – August 15. See you then.
“We are so excited, cause we’re reunited, hey, hey!”
Meanwhile, back to Des Moines, Iowa. Yes, Swamp Mama and I are in the Hawkeye State to socialize with my Navy buddies from our days in Edzell, Scotland. It’s our 7th annual reunion to reminisce about our time together in Edzell.
Why Des Moines, you ask? Well, the Iowa State Fair opens this week – Thursday to be exact. That gives our group a few days in advance of the Fair to get out and about. We’re taking a bus tour of the Bridges of Madison County, a visit to Winterset, Iowa, to see John Wayne’s birthplace, the Iowa Quilt Museum, the John Deere Agri Vision and the Henry Wallace Country Life Center.
After a tour of the Iowa State Capitol on Wednesday, we’ll visit the Iowa State Historical Museum and attend the State Fair parade in downtown Des Moines that evening. Thursday is the opening day of the Fair and we’ll be there – all day.
The reunion is over on Friday, however, our Husker friends, Dave and Sue Brolhorst, from Lincoln, Nebraska, are driving over to Des Moines to get together with Swamp Mama and me. We’ll have all day and all evening Friday to hang out.
But don’t worry. I’ll be back in good ole east-central Florida next Monday to get this season’s first issue of College Football Week posted to you.
It’s good to be back.
“Reunited and it feels so good!”
Touchdown Tom
