CFW – The 2024 Introduction
Coming Around Again
Greetings college football fans from the barrier islands on the coast of east-central Florida. It’s been a long, hot summer, but now it is time to get back to football with College Football Week. CFW is coming around again. The first edition of 2024’s College Football Week will be posted one week from today – Monday, August 12. Yes, next Monday will be the first of College Football Week’s 24-week run from preseason (August 12) to the end of postseason (January 27).
Better known as CFW, the weekly college football blog/newsletter is back for its 30th season. Begun in the mid-1990s, CFW has continued to inform and entertain, sometimes irritate, college football fans every year since 1995.
“I know nothing stays the same
But if you’re willing to watch the game
It’s coming around again”
Not only has CFW continued to exist, but also, during the years, it has continued to grow:
- From a weekly report and commentary on seven teams – Duke, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Purdue, Texas and West Virginia (“Ye Olde Stomping Grounds”) – to a weekly report and commentary on all of college football.
- From a weekly two-page report and commentary to a multi-page report and commentary.
- From a weekly email sent to 12 recipients to an email sent to more than 600 recipients and to an online blog (https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com) read by several thousand.
On Monday, August 12, come aboard and read the first of 24 weeks of postings. You’ll be glad you did. Every Monday and Thursday morning, CFW will keep you up-to-date and entertained for the next five months – the preseason, the season, the conference championship games, the bowl games, the playoffs, the championship game and the postseason recap – all 24 weeks of college football. And as always, an extra posting – CFW’s annual Holiday Bonus: What Year Was It?
“And I believe in football
What else can I do
I’m so in love with you”
If you are a fan of college football, you’ll love CFW. Enjoy all the fun and excitement of each week, as Touchdown Tom, his wife Swamp Mama and their cohorts Rockledge Gator and Bootsie frolic through the college football season. CFW is everything college football and more – everything college football and then some.
If you don’t receive CFW by email, you can always read it online at the link https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com. The online link to CFW is also available on LinkedIn, my Facebook page, The Big Red Meat Wagon Facebook page and the College Football Week Group on Facebook.
“I know nothing stays the same
But if you’re willing to follow the game
It’s coming around again”
College football 2024 is just around the corner. From the offseason, the new head coaches, the coaches on the hot seat and conference realignments to the season, the bowl games, the playoff and the title game, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy your cold pizza, your chili dogs, your favorite brew and College Football Week.
College Football Week will be on your laptop, your iPad and/or your cell phone bright and early next Monday morning – August 12. And every morning next week. Yes, CFW will be posted everyday next week.
Monday, August 12: CFW – The Offseason Report
Tuesday, August 13: CFW – The New Head Coaches
Wednesday, August 14: CFW – The Hot Seat Coaches
Thursday, August 15: CFW – The Top Quarterbacks
Friday, August 16: CFW – The Top Running Backs, Wide Receivers, etc.
Beginning with Week One – August 26 – the CFW blog, as you have known it, will be posted every Monday morning, with the results of the weekend, along with the latest news and quotes of the week. “Touchdown Tom’s Predictions for This Week’s 10 Biggest and Most Intriguing Games….and then some,” “Ye Olde Stomping Grounds,” “Elsewhere Around Florida” and the latest news will be posted every Thursday morning, beginning August 29.
In the meantime, I’ll see you Monday and everyday next week.
It’s good to be back!
Yes, it’s good to be coming around again.
Touchdown Tom

“Coming Around Again” is a song by singer-songwriter Carly Simon. She wrote it for the film “Heartburn” (1986), starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. Later, it appeared on Simon’s album of the same name “Coming Around Again” (1987). Released as a single, “Coming Around Again” reached No. 18 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It entered the chart on November 1, 1986, and remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 17 weeks. My apologies to Carly for editing some of the lyrics.
