CFW – The 2025 Introduction (30th Anniversary)
‘My blog is alive, and so we begin’
“Laying our hearts on our teams
Stumblin’ in”
Greetings college football fans from the barrier islands on the coast of east-central Florida. It has been a long, scorching, heat dome of a summer. Now, it is time to get back to football. Time to cool off with College Football Week. CFW is stumblin’ in. The first edition of 2025’s College Football Week will be posted one week from today – Monday, August 11. Yes, next Monday will be the first of College Football Week’s 24-week run from preseason (August 11) to the end of postseason (January 26).
Better known as CFW, the weekly college football blog/newsletter is back for its 31st season. That’s right, this is CFW’s 30th Anniversary. Begun in the mid-1990s, CFW has continued to inform and entertain, sometimes irritate, college football fans every year since 1995.
“My blog is alive, and so we begin
Foolishly laying our hearts on our teams again
Stumblin’ in”
Not only has CFW continued to exist, but also, during the years, it has continued to grow:
- From a weekly report and commentary on seven teams – Duke, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Purdue, Texas and West Virginia (“Ye Olde Stomping Grounds”) – to a weekly report and commentary on all of college football.
- From a weekly two-page report and commentary to a multi-page report and commentary.
- From a weekly email sent to 12 recipients to an email sent to more than 600 recipients and to an online blog (https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com) read by several thousand.
On Monday, August 11, come aboard and read the first of 24 weeks of postings. You will be glad you did. Every Monday and Thursday morning, CFW will keep you up-to-date and entertained for the next five months – the preseason, the season, the conference championship games, the bowl games, the playoffs, the championship game and the postseason recap – all 24 weeks of college football. And as always, an extra posting – CFW’s annual Holiday Bonus: What Year Was It?
“My blog is a flame, burning within
Now and then the firelight will catch me
Stumblin’ in”
If you are a fan of college football, you will love CFW. Enjoy all the fun and excitement each week, as Touchdown Tom, his wife Swamp Mama and their cohorts Rockledge Gator and Bootsie frolic through the college football season. CFW is everything college football and more – everything college football and then some.
If you don’t receive CFW by email, you can always read it online at the link https://collegefootballweek.blogspot.com. The online link to CFW is also available on LinkedIn, my Facebook page, The Big Red Meat Wagon Facebook page and the College Football Week Group on Facebook.

“Stumblin’ In” is a song that was written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. It was recorded and performed as a duet by Chris Norman, of Redcar, North Yorkshire, England and Suzi Quatro of Detroit, Michigan. The duet-hit peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the winter and spring of 1979, remaining on the chart for 22 weeks. “Stumblin’ In” was Quatro’s only Top 40 hit. It was Norman’s lone charting effort, apart from his time with the band Smokie who had a hit with “Living Next Door to Alice” in early 1977. My apologies for taking liberty with the lyrics.
